Today has been Animal Art Day in Year 1 and we have been focusing on our drawing skills.
In 1G, we looked at elephants. The day began with Mrs Garland asking us to draw an elephant from memory. We were a bit worried at first but we all had a go and we were surprised by what we could and couldn't remember about elephants.
After our first attempt, we watched a short video clip about elephants and we looked at them carefully. We then had another go at drawing an elephant and we were amazed by the improvement in our drawings.
Mrs Garland then gave us a step-by-step guide on how to draw elephants. We had so much fun trying to follow the instructions!
We then practised different techniques including continuous line drawing, drawing using oil pastels and crayon drawings.
We also painted our clay pots that we made earlier in the week. We chose two colours - one for the outside and one for the inside. After half-term we are going to add some snake patterns to them.
