After half term out topic is weather. The first week back we are thinking about rain. We are planning to make rainmaker instruments. If you have any cardboard tubes please could you save them for us and bring them in by Wednesday 22nd February. long tubes from posters would be great as well as kitchen roll tubes - the bigger, the better!
Show & Tell on our first week back will be 'an animal/creature that lives in water'.
This week we have enjoyed lots of work inspired by the book Handa's surprise.
Thank you to all the parents that kindly donated fruit. We have been very busy naming the fruits, describing and sketching them, writing lists of fruit and printing with them. We also tasted lots of different fruits and recorded our likes/dislikes and favourites. We found out that lots of us thought we didn't like plum but when we tried it we really enjoyed it.
We also made some lovely art work inspired by the book.
Next week we will be looking at the story 'Handa's Surprise'. We will be involved with lots of activities revolving around fruit including: fruit tasting, printing, writing and observational drawing. We will be exploring different patterns in the environment including animal patterns and rubbings in the woodland area. We are continuing to learn our phonic sounds through our new scheme called Read, Write, Inc - we can share more information at parents' evening.
