Next week (week beginning 5/12) we will be learning the sounds th, ng & ai. For Show & Tell on 7/12 please bring your favourite soft toy.
We need lots of new plain white socks for a Christmas craft on the week beginning 12/12. The socks can be any size, every child will need one sock.
Our sounds this week are qu, ch & sh. Please bring something beginning with ch for show & tell.
Everyone enjoyed Bamboos' birthday celebrations, we played some listening games and had some tasty treats.
We are all very excited this week as it is Bamboo's birthday on Friday! We have been very busy making cards and invitations, writing lists and making cakes. We have counted out candles and ordered numbered cakes. There has been lots to do to get prepared!
On Tuesday we had our very first try at writing a sentence. We had to write an invitation to Bamboo to come to his birthday party. We used our phonic knowledge to sound out the words and we even remembered finger spaces!
Below are some of the fantastic pieces of writing that made our teachers very proud. We have only been at school for a couple of months and we have learnt so much! Well done panda class!
The sounds we are learning this week are x, y, z & zz. We are also trying hard to learn some tricky words. These words are difficult to sound out so we try to learn them by sight. The first set of tricky words that we are trying hard to learn are I, no, go, the, to, into.
Just a reminder that we aim to listen to readers and change books on Mondays and Fridays. If we feel that the children need a little more support or practise, with a particular book, it may not be changed.
We encourage you to read their school book several times so the children have a deeper understanding of the story events, become familiar with the characters and begin to learn some words by sight.
You can support your child's reading at home by sharing a variety of picture books, magazines, newspapers, non fiction texts, street names and numbers, or take a trip to your local library and scan out some new books.
Everyone enjoyed Children in Need with a Pudsey Bear craft and a bear themed Zumba class. We discussed why we had a non-uniform day and who we are helping.
In the afternoon we went on an Autumn walk and looked to see what is happening to the leaves.
You may want to go for a walk this weekend and look at all the lovely Autumn colours.
Our sounds this week are j, v & w. Show and Tell on Wednesday is 'bring a photo of you on your birthday' as our new topic is birthdays.
