Don’t forget this Friday is our Christmas craft afternoon. Please come along to help your child make their crafts. If you have children in multiple classes feel free to pop in and out!
Please save your recycling bits for us! We need lots of junk modelling materials - boxes, tubes etc for the first week back after half term. When half the class are on the trip the other half will have a challenge to complete - to design make a mode of transport from junk modelling materials.
I would also also appreciate donations of colouring books as the children are loving them when they have spare moments to choose and we are getting through a lot!
This week in English we have been reading the book ‘not a stick’ by Antoinette Portis. In this story the pig uses his imagination and his stick becomes all sorts of different things. We looked for exclamation marks and question marks in the book and thought about how they change the way we read the book. Below is a video of us reading the story from memory with expression, it was our first attempt and I thought the children did really well. Now when we read our reading books we can try hard to read with intonation and expression.
Well done 1I. In celebration assembly we won Lionel the lion for the best attendance. He can stay with us in our classroom for the week and help us with our learning.
We have been very clever using some new symbols in maths. can your child explain what the symbols mean? Can they write down two numbers then write the correct symbol between them?
Every Friday afternoon the whole school have their PSHE lessons. Our first lesson was all about making choices. We worked in small groups and took turns adding our favourite things to some posters. We then discussed our favourite books, tv programmes, colours, foods and friends.
We found out that we all made different choices and that that is okay! We are all entitled to our own opinions and it is fine to change your opinion. People might have different choices and opinions to us and that is fine.
