Every Friday afternoon the whole school have their PSHE lessons. Our first lesson was all about making choices. We worked in small groups and took turns adding our favourite things to some posters. We then discussed our favourite books, tv programmes, colours, foods and friends.
We found out that we all made different choices and that that is okay! We are all entitled to our own opinions and it is fine to change your opinion. People might have different choices and opinions to us and that is fine.
Here is our brand new rug that is very cosy to sit on but definitely won’t fit in the washing machine! To help avoid a muddy rug the children have started bringing slippers to school that stay in the classroom. As well as keeping our rug clean we have found it is very cosy wearing our slippers, I might even bring some of my own in!
Every child has their own shape that they sit on, it helps us sit very smartly indeed!
It has been a very busy first week in year one. We have all enjoyed exploring our new classroom and learning new things.
I have been very pleased with how the children have quickly settled into new routines. Year One is quite different to reception but the children have really impressed me. We are only a week in but already they have produced some fantastic work.
Thank you to the parents that made it to the ‘meet the teacher’ presentation. For those that missed it I have sent home some forms that need to be completed and I will add the PowerPoint on to this blog shortly.
There has has been a slight change to our timetable already. We were going to have our P.E lesson on a Wednesday but now it will be on a Thursday.
Show and Tell will be every Wednesday. It will be a little different to last year. There won’t be a theme so children can choose what they bring, no toys though please. It is lovely to see photos, holiday souvenirs, certificates, art work, favourite books etc. If your child has achieved something outside of school e.g. a swimming award, karate belt send it in for Show and Tell so we can celebrate that accomplishment. In order that the children get time to talk in detail I will choose about 6 children each week to have a turn. I will put the names on a note outside the cloakrooms.
Please can all children bring the following items to school
a drink bottle needs to be brought in daily.
Welly boots that can stay in school for our visits to the secret garden.
Slippers for indoors that can be kept in the classroom as we have a fantastic new rug that we don’t want to get muddy!
We have finished our last day of reception with lots of fun, a breakfast picnic and a class party.
It has been a brilliant year, I am so proud of every child in Pandas, they have achieved so much.
The last day of term is always a little sad as well as a celebration but this year I get to keep my fantastic class for new adventures in year 1, it is going to be a big change for all of us and we are very excited.
Thank you to all the Panda parents for being so supportive of your children this year, enjoy your summer holidays with your families and I look forward to seeing everyone in September.
Thank you so much for the very thoughtful cards, gifts and messages, I have been very spoilt!
Today I found out how clever some of the Pandas are at hula hooping!
Wow! Next week is our final week in Panda class. We will be talking about our favourite memories and our hopes for next year.
We finished our swimming lessons off with a very fun session so there will be no swimming in the final week for reception.
We will collect all reading books and diaries in on Monday ready for Year One.
On Tuesday it is moving up morning. The children will spend the morning in their new classroom with their Year One teacher. Please bring them to school at the usual time and the usual cloakroom doors.
Tuesday after school is an open afternoon. This is a chance to have a look at some of your child's work, to have an informal chat with the teachers, and an opportunity to visit new classrooms/teachers.
For show and tell on Wednesday the children can bring 'anything'!
Thursday will be the last P.E lesson so kits can go home after school on Thursday. Things like welly boots and winter hats/gloves etc can go home now, its surprising how much stuff is lurking in the cloakroom!
On Friday we have a breakfast picnic on the field so please can the children bring their breakfast to school that day.
We would be grateful for donations of party snacks for a little celebration on the last afternoon. Biscuits, crisps, cakes etc rather than foods that need to go in the fridge. Please start bringing them in anytime.
The mini beasts we are thinking about next week are worms.
For Show and Tell please bring something long!
Monday will be our last swimming lesson and it will be a fun session.
Next week we are thinking about Ladybirds and reading 'the bad tempered ladybird' by Eric Carle.
For Show and Tell please bring something spotty.
