This week we had a wonderful time exploring Aboriginal Art and paintings. Jessica's mum came into our class and helped us paint pebbles and make Aboriginal style masks. We used the end of a paintbrush to make delicate dots to create patterns using earth colours. Ask your children if they can remember why Aboriginal people painted with earth colours? (Clue: Do you think they could go to Asda or Tesco to buy paint?)
Rhys told us that Aboriginal hunters used to paint their masks to look fierce, in order to scare the animals when they were trying to catch them!
Here is an example of Aboriginal art. If you look closely you will see tiny dots are used to make the pictures.
We are 3D!
