Congratulations to my amazingly talented class who put on an unforgettable show that the Royal Shakespeare Company would have been impressed by. I hope 4B feel incredible proud of themselves. Despite a short amount of rehearsal time, 4B pulled it off and thoroughly enjoyed themselves along the way. All’s well that ends well!
Our literacy work this half term has been based on Shakespeare’s popular comedy. Through drama, the children explored characters, plot, themes and use of language. Over the past few weeks, 4B turned into skilled scriptwriters. As a group, they had to rewrite one of three scenes while thinking carefully about features of play scripts. The children realised the importance of stage directions so that their actors knew how to move and speak when delivering their lines. An enormous amount of effort went into memorising their scripts, creating props and finding costumes.
Thank you all for joining 4B to watch their performances of Shakespeare’s comedy ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ this afternoon. It was lovely to have such a supportive audience. I will endeavour to upload each of the filmed performances over the next few days so you can share your child’s wonderful achievements with family and friends. In the meantime, please enjoy looking through the slideshow of photos below.
