This week was no ordinary week.....
We learned about Refugees. The reason that Refugee week was created was to make people understand about Refugees because there were loads of people giving incorrect information about them ( some people still think that today ).
In English we were studying a book called ' The Whispering Cloth'. It is about a girl called Mai that was learning how to create a Pandau ( a quilt). She finally created them but Mai's Grandmother said the cloth says it is not for sale. We were given a story told by a girl named Amira we had to draw the Pandau to describe her story and are now drawing onto a cloth using pastel dye sticks. We had to wear bright colours on Friday to raise awarness to Refugees.
This week we have written a kenning about world war 2 we also wrote in Viking runes.
A kenning is a piece of descriptive writing, a poem, for example -
As you can see the last word ends with er the kenning is like a riddle and you are supposed to guess the subject.
It is also a puzzle. Can you guess what the poem was about? That's right! A cat.
Viking Runes are letters used by the Vikings , the letters only use straight lines as curves were too difficult to calve or chisel. Some Runes look like letters used today. We wrote our names and some messages using Viking runes.
Well to start of the week Mr Rix had a very sore throat so he could't speak loudly or talk for a long time . We have been busy revising for tests we have done our Arithmetic paper and later on we will be doing the SPAG test.
As you can probably guess some of our fantastic tadpoles have sadly died. It is because some tadpoles are vegetarians while others are he Carnivors who eat other vegetarian tadpoles which resulted as only 13 out of 30 tadpoles alive which is very sad :(
Will G. has won two medals for his fantastic karate skills!
