I just wanted to write a quick message to wish all the children of 5P and their families a very restful and relaxing summer break.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my first term here at Rushmere Hall and I am very excited to be following the class into next year as we become 6P!
I look forward to welcoming everyone back in September, rested and recharged and ready to face the challenges that next year will bring.
This week has been one involving lots of finishing off and also a wonderful trip to Cambridge.
Firstly, we completed our fairground rides in DT. The creativity the children showed was outstanding and it was also good to see them being resilient and adaptable when their models needed some adjustments to make sure they worked. Below is just a selection of the models 5P constructed.
On Wednesday, we travelled to Cambridge for our final educational visit of the year. We took part in a 'Murder Mystery Tour' of a small part of the city, followed by punting on the River Cam and finally a look around the impressive Fitzwilliam Museum. We finished the day with ice lollies on the museum lawn before heading home. Everyone went home very tired but happy after an enjoyable day. Again, 5P were very well behaved and enthusiastic throughout the day. Well Done!
Although the end of term is almost upon us, there has been no let up in 5P this week.
On Wednesday morning we completed our sports day. A huge well done to everyone in 5P who took part. It was great to see you all enjoying yourselves. Also, well done to all our finalists and our third, second and first place finishers.
Wednesday afternoon was also a little different as we were invited to take part in a special science lesson at Northgate High School. It was all to do with states of matter and it involved some very exciting experiments with liquid nitrogen.
All the children really enjoyed the lesson and their enthusiasm and the questions they asked were wonderful. We even received a special message from the teachers at Northgate to say how well behaved, polite and enthusiastic all of year 5 were. Well done everyone.
Finally, we have been constructing our fairground rides in DT this week. The children have been busy designing their own versions of rides, thinking about how they might appeal to people and how their ride is going to function. Our basic frames are now completed and ready to have the rides connected to them. Watch this space next week for what promise to be some amazing creations.
Overall, another cracking week in 5P.
Well done everyone.
6P will be keeping you informed of all the exciting things we are doing in class. Keep logging on to read our blogs.
