Last week in Literacy we edited our spy letters of application and started to create our own spy gadget. I must say 5CL have some very creative ideas for this! In Numeracy, we have continued to explore numbers by looking at how they are represented in different ways. We all became millionaires for the lesson and dished out and counted money to a million.
In Art we have put done our first colour on our prints and they are looking rather good. In Science different groups looked at different investigations involving materials and reported back to the class what they found out. In our topic work, we have continued to explore coasts and we have had a fantastic piece of homework in already from Gosia, so thank you for that.
Keep up the good work 5CL. By the way, your writing is getting better and better!
Sorry this is a little late. I have been having trouble logging on and am just getting used to blogging. Anyway, up and running again now.
Last week was our first full week and what a jam packed week we had! The children have started their designs for their block prints in art this week linked to the coastline. This is also linked to a homework task which was sent home on Friday (if the children choose that one). In science they have continued to explore materials.
In Literacy, we have been in role as Alex Rider, the character from storm breaker. Mrs Lees enjoys hot seating and so she had a go in character too! They then wrote a letter to apply for a spy position. In Geography, the children continued with this persuasion and tried to get Mrs Lees to buy a holiday. Persuasion is also the theme for next week too, so watch this space!
I hope you have had an excellent summer. It has been an great start to the year so far. The children have settled well and got straight back to their work. They have a good work ethic.
In Numeracy, we have been recapping place value and numbers. In Literacy, we have started reading Stormbreaker. We are learning about the characters and the key vocabulary. We had fun in Geography revising the water cycle and creating a cloud. The children remembered the correct vocabulary and I was impressed. I have a feeling this is going to be a very good year!
Well, signing off for now. Hope you have a good weekend.
Mrs Lees and Mrs Cook.
