This week your child was given a multiplication booklet. Many thanks to the helpful volunteers Josie, Darcey, Neveah, Rajinder Tamsin and Lily-Mae who gave up many lunchtimes to stick all the tables into each booklet so your child can learn them. Please find the time to hear your child recite their tables. They need to be able to recite them mixed up as well as in the correct order.
There are only 2 or 3 pupils in the whole class who are proficient in their use of tables. This is a very important skill that is used constantly in our everyday lives so please join me in helping your children learn them. Testing will be when they feel ready to be tested by me in school and will begin after half term. However, I will be chasing pupils up if they don't feel ready to be tested on the 2x after a couple of weeks back
Please enjoy the photographs of the children when they started using their tables books for the first time - let's hope their enthusiasm continues!
This week we have been looking at a wonderful poem 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes. Our enjoyment of the poem was further heightened by a visit from our very own 'Highwaywoman' Mrs Worby. She really made the poem come to life dressed in the full regalia of a highwayman. She also posed with the last of the pupils in 5B who have produced homweork projects.
I have been so impressed with the standard of homework projects the children have produced so many thanks for all your help and support.
I will look forward to seeing some of you on Monday between 9.00 and 10.30 to support the children in making a CAM toy in Design Technology. I will be posting photos online of the fun we will be having as well as the final results of the children's toys. If I don't see you, can I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
