Another busy week!
This week, we have been doing lots of planning for our long write task. This involved us carefully looking at the sequence of the story and writing what Rose Blanche (the main character in the story) would have heard/ have seen and what she might have felt or thought. After organising our ideas and looking at the different sentence types (ing sentence starters, like Scrambling across the muddy hills), we completed our independent writing task. Both myself and Mrs Ching were extremely impressed with the quality of their writing, especially the use of powerful adverbs and adjectives!
In Science, we have been looking at branching keys and classifying animals. The class worked in groups and completed this task on sugar paper. They had fun with this and some pupils researched, using laptops, to make up their own branching keys with unusual animals.
This week we have seen a noticeable improvement in the handwriting of every pupil. This is something that the whole school is focusing on, so we are really pleased.
Welcome back to another week in 6C. A big well done to Josie Gudgin and Alfie Bryne for getting there certificates. We have had a brilliant week . We have been working hard in numeracy on rounding and we have made some wonderful e-saftey posters. In literacy we have been focusing on writing a recount from a characters point of view. We enjoyed writing and using lots of adjectives and relative clauses .Also we have started planning our collage based on Gustav Klints artwork . By Josie and Darcey .
Well what a great week 6C have had. This week has been a week full of sample SAT'S papers but everyone has tried really hard. Well done to this weeks well done : Jesse Poll who was organised. Everyone has settled into year 6 very well. We as students are very pleased with our class. Thank you to our teachers Mrs Ching and Mrs Casburn for helping us out and being great. We have also developed nicely in our new Guided reading seats as well as our new ability seats. We love our new class and hope to carry on this good work. Thank you for reading. From Darcey and Rajvinder.
It has been great meeting and getting to know 6C this week.
Despite it being the first week back, we have all been busy! We have been learning a great deal about place value in mathematics and about Rose Blanche in Literacy. On our first day, we created time capsules. This involved us writing about our hopes, aspirations and intentions for this coming year. We will then look back on this at the end of the year, to see if we have achieved all we set out to.
Each day in Year 6 counts, so it's great that we have had good attendance this week.
Mrs Casburn and Mrs Ching are looking forward to meeting the parents on Monday after school for 'Meet The Teacher'.
Keep up the positive attitudes, 6C!
