It was great to welcome everyone back from the Easter break this week. It is amazing to think that we are now in the Summer Term, the last term for Year 6 at Rushmere Hall.
I was very impressed to hear how much effort had been put into homework over the holidays. It has really helped us to hit the ground running at the start of the new term.
In maths this week we have been looking at measuring and calculating angles. We revised our protractor skills and we have begun to use those skills to solve some reasoning problems. More of this next week.
In literacy we have been doing some more writing based on the book 'Refugee Boy'. This time we are writing a balanced argument about the idea of a campaign to change an important decision. The children have needed to make sure that both sides of the discussion are covered and that they show evidence to back up their points.
6P have also been very fortunate to have two sports coaches come in and provide some taster sessions for them on two very different sports. On Thursday we had a golf coach come in and we all had great fun trying to be as accurate as possible and also seeing who could hit the ball the furthest distance.
Then on Friday we had a coach from a local judo club teach us some of the various moves from his sport. I was very impressed by the 'have-a-go' attitude that lots of the children showed and it was great to see and hear so much laughter throughout the session.
Well done to everyone on a great first week back.
Enjoy the lovely weather, stay safe in the sun and see you all on Monday.
PS. Our Egyptian museum is now ready and will be open for viewings very soon. More information on this soon.
6P will be keeping you informed of all the exciting things we are doing in class. Keep logging on to read our blogs.
