This week- we learnt all about the police and their role. On Monday we waited for a policeman and his police dog to come into school but they got called away to an emergency. After lunch we received a phone call from the police officer and he needed our help. We had to find Stick Man as he had gone missing. We looked everywhere and ended up in the secret garden, where we had to work in teams to find the clues and solve the puzzle.
Next week- We will be looking at a fire engine and learning about the role of a fireman.

Wednesday 17th October - Please bring in something that is the colour orange.
We had a brilliant visit from Dan the Paramedic who talked to the children about what his job involved and how he helps people who are poorly. He also showed us a special machine that measures your heart rate and he showed us how to put on a bandage.
We learnt a lot from our visit and when some of the teddy bears in the class became poorly we knew how we could help them.
Next week- On Monday we are having a visit from a Police Officer and the Police Dogs. The children will have the chance to find out all about being a Police Officer and see the dogs in action! We are super excited for this visit.
Our maths focus this week was looking in depth at the number 5. The children learnt that the number 5 can be represented in lots of different ways. We used a 5 frame to investigate all the different ways we can make 5.
Next week- Our focus will be continuing to explore the number 5 and introducing the number 10.
This week we used our phonics knowledge to label an ambulance. We tried our best and feel very proud of our work. If we struggle we say to our self 'just try your best and your best is good enough.'
Next week- We will continue learning new phonics sounds and using these in our writing to label a policeman.
