""Hi, my name is Brooke and I am a peer mentor. I am nearly 10 years old and I am in Year 5. At home I am now trusted to go to the nearby park and shop as I am trusted to cross the road safely. The reason I wanted to become a peer mentor was because of how you help out with people and their problems. The reason I wanted to become a junior road safety officer is because I am very good at crossing the road and I want to help keep others safe. For example, if someone was running across the road I would ask them to walk and speak to them about crossing the road safely. In the past I have helped others by making sure that people don't park in the wrong places, for example on the yellow zig zag lines. I would like people to understand the danger of crossing the road and make sure they pay attention as we can all get easily distracted by our friends! Hopefully you will see me around the school soon as a Road Safety Officer!"
"Hello, I'm Olly, one of the JRSOs. My favourite subjects are maths, history and ICT. I also like to play on my x box and board games. My favourite sport is hockey, I play as a goal keeper. I'm wishing to make our roads safer."
"Hi, my name is Rihanna and I think I would be great in the junior road safety officer team because I love helping our school with my ideas so I'd be perfect. I love Man United. I have earned two Blue Peter badges which I will proudly wear alongside my JRSO badge. I look forward to meeting everyone."
"Hello my name is James. I am 9 years old. At school I am in Year 5. I am very keen on sport including biking. I'm especially keen on football and athletics. I wanted to become a road safety officer because I want to make the roads a safe place. I really enjoy cycling but it can be dangerous when people don't look out for bikes. I want everyone to think about cyclists and pedestrians to keep us all safe."
Hello and welcome to our new blog. We are very excited to start a new initiative at our school and we have appointed ten very enthusiastic year five pupils as 'Junior Road safety Officers'.
We meet weekly to discuss Road safety and how we can help in our school and within the wider community.
To launch our initiative we will be launching a competition for all pupils - please check back for more information soon!
