Year 2-6. The more you practice the more coins you earn!
Welcome to the Maths café, this is a very special learning area where staff and pupils can work during the day for one-to-one or small group maths teaching, to enhance subject knowledge and enhance Maths mastery.

Maths café club on Mondays 3:30-4:30pm this is open to pupils and parents from Year1-Year3. Within our sessions, we demonstrate techniques and strategies, which the pupils have been using in class; this provides an opportunity for parents to come into school and gain an understanding of how the subject lessons are taught enabling parents on how to support at home. The Maths café is very popular and has been running for 2 years.

The maths café is run by 2 teachers per session, who are available during the session to provide support and demonstrate techniques and strategies. The session is tailored to each year group to build and develop Maths Mastery, encouraging pupils to challenge themselves and embed what they have been learning through practical fun activities.

Each half term we will have a different focus lending itself to following the Curriculum, being relevant to what is being taught in lessons.

Join Miss Barnard, Mrs Darroch and Miss Markham for a fun maths filled afternoon. We provide tea and coffee for the parents/grandparents and carers and water for the children.
Itinerary:

Autumn term: Place Value

In Place value we are exploring number in-depth by investigating numbers using different resources to make a number such as numicon, Cuisenaire rods, dienes, money and double sided counters and understanding number bonds.

Spring term: Multiplication/Division

This term we are exploring Multiplication/Division through practical activities, developing knowledge, understanding and enriching mathematical language and using techniques which have been implemented in the classroom. Learning how to make 'groups of' 'lots of' 'equal'  'same as' and breaking down  more complex concepts into easier to understand techniques.
