Last Friday, the Singing Squad were invited to Sidegate Primary School to take part in a "Friday Afternoon" informal singing workshop and concert. Other local schools also took part, and it was a treat to hear them perform.
Friday Afternoon songs were originally written by our famous local composer, Benjamin Britten, to encourage young singers. Aldeburgh Music commissions new songs to be written by modern composers especially for these events. At the same time, Snape Maltings concert hall was filled with choirs from all over Suffolk, who were also taking part. We had a great time learning a new song called "Fire" by Jonathan Dove, which we sang in parts. Our children - from years 3 to 6 - were absolutely brilliant ambassadors for the school, and really enjoyed singing in a bigger choir.
