At Rushmere Hall we recognise the value of physical education and adhere to the National Curriculum.
We aim to:
We aim to:
- Promote an active lifestyle and understand the value of good physical health.
- Develop independence and become physically competent in a range of sporting activities.
- Embed an understanding of good sportsmanship including fairness, dedication, respect and resilience.
- Take part in competitive sports and activities within and outside school.
- Motivate children to succeed and excel in physically demanding activities.
- Reflect and adapt upon previously learnt skills throughout their school journey.
- Provide high quality lessons that engage, challenge and are accessible to all pupils.
- Create relationships with local sports clubs including Ipswich Rugby Club, Ipswich Town Football Club, Ipswich Harriers and Piper’s Vale Gymnastics Club.
As children progress through the school, they will build on the skills taught in the previous year. This will ensure progression and development of skills.
Our sports curriculum is taught by outside sourced sports coaches and individual teachers and participation in inter-school competitions and internal school clubs and intra-school house team competitions are greatly encouraged and enjoyed by all participants.
We believe that PE is fundamental in building self-confidence which will, in turn, make our pupils ready to learn. We aim to reach out across the curriculum with links to other subjects including science and PSHE. Our pupils will have good general knowledge of sporting events and sporting heroes, some of whom have links to classroom characters.
Please see our SEND page for details of how ALL subjects are adapted to meet the needs of all pupils.
The following subject specific adaptations are mmade in PE to allow all children to access the knowledge and skills required:
