Yesterday, myself (Mr Fykin) and Mrs Paternoster took 10 pupils from Year 6 to the Suffolk Quad Kids Event. The event organised by the Sports Partnership had 64 primary schools competing in 4 athletic track and field events. Our team were amazing! They ran their socks off, threw further than they have ever thrown, jumped further than they have ever jumped and were just so impressive on the day. Everyone excelled themselves! Everyone gave that little bit extra! We knew that we had been doing well on our events but were unaware of how the other schools were getting on in theirs. The top eight in this event go on to compete against each other in the Suffolk Finals on the 5th July. When we got to the results at the end of the event, we weren’t expecting to be in the top 8. Last year, we were ranked 32nd and as always we are up against big schools who take this competition very seriously indeed! When we turned up there were lots of schools warming up with their sports coaches, stretching and practising before the event started. Sensibly... we conserved our energy. In our Rushmere Hall kit... we looked the part... and we saved the showing off for when we were on the track! And there it was… the result… we finished a superb 5th out of 64 schools. Wow! We are through to the Suffolk Finals. The 5th best school in the South of Suffolk! I was so proud of the team and their achievement and so proud to be there to see their success. A huge thank you to those who came along to support and a huge thank you to Mrs Paternoster who helped motivate the children and encourage them all the way through! I will remember today always – I am so proud of Rushmere Hall! What a result! Mr Fykin
