This week we have been learning about Chinese New Year and taking part in lots of related activities. We have been using red rice to fill up containers, we made lucky money wallets and lanterns, practiced writing Chinese numbers, counted Chinese coins, danced a dragon dance in PE and tried Chinese food! Phew what a week! See some of the pictures below. Next week we are starting our first fairy story, Little Red Riding Hood. The colour is purple and the letter is d. Thursday is World Book Day and to celebrate the children are allowed to bring in their favourite story book to share, please make sure that it is clearly labelled. This week we have been focusing on Pancake Day. We read Mr Wolf's Pancakes and discussed how Mr Wolf felt when nobody would help him. We wrote shopping lists, made play-dough pancakes and pretended to make them in our play. The maths focus was shape and we played various games to help us learn the names and properties of 2D shapes. But the favourite part of this week must have been decorating and eating the pancakes! Yum! Next week is half term, Nursery re-opens on Monday 19th February. The first week back and a new theme starts with Chinese New Year. Have a good break.
![]() This week was our last week of the dinosaur topic. Next week we will be focusing on Pancake day, which is Tuesday 13th February. Reading the story Mr Wolf's Pancakes.
