This Week
As part of our topic, Lights, Camera, Action! we have been learning all about the film, 'Lego Movie.' We have been talking about what makes us feel happy or sad, we have also designed own Lego figures.  In Maths we have been using Lego to practise number bond recall to 10 and we have also been recreating and designing 2 and 3 colour repeating patterns.

Next Week 
Next week we will be starting our new topic - Under the Sea.  The first week we will focus on the book 'Commotion in the Ocean' as an introduction to the different types of sea creatures.  We will also be naming and describing them and recalling facts about them using non-fiction texts.

Literacy Focus - Sea Creature descriptions and rhyming word pairs  

Swimming
Just a reminder that swimming is on Tuesday afternoon.  Please ensure your child has the following...

​This Week
As part of our topic, Lights, Camera, Action! we have been learning all about the film, 'Monsters Inc.' We have use positional language to describe where the monster is hiding (in/on/under/next to/between).  We have also talked about what makes us feel frightened or a little bit scared.
The children also had a super SWIMMING lesson this week. No tears and fantastic water confidence shown by all. I know the children are excited about next weeks' lesson already!
Well done Penguins!! 

In Maths, we have been using positional language to describe where the monsters are hiding. 
In Literacy we have been busy practising our phonics 

Next Week 
Next week we will be continuing our Lights, Camera, Action topic and we will  be looking at the film, 'Lego Movie.' We will be talking about emotions and discussing what makes us feel happy and/or sad. 
We will also be using lego bricks to create and design our own models and using the bricks in all sorts of maths activities such as counting the 'dots' to complete addition sums.

Show & Tell - Something beginning with ‘M’

We had a super Show & Tell session today, with all sorts of fantastic things beginning with 'M', including money, Minions, mirror, motor car, monkey, mermaid, Minnie Mouse, princess Mulan and a Maori from the film Moana.  
We talked about the film Moana and New Zealand.  We found it on a map and looked at the nearby countries such as Australia.  We discussed how if it's day here it is night in New Zealand and vice versa.

This Week
As part of our topic, Lights, Camera, Action! we have been learning all about the film, 'Despicable Me.' We have talked about the characters, 'Gru and the Minions', and we used adjectives to describe the 'villain' Gru.  We then wrote descriptive sentences about Gru using our adjectives. 

In Maths, we have been talking about our favourite fruit and creating a class bar chart  (data handling)
In Literacy we have been writing sentences to describe Gru

Next Week 
Next week we will be continuing our Lights, Camera, Action topic and we will  be looking at the film, 'Monster Inc.' We will be talking about 'positional language' and using it to describe where the 'monsters' are hiding (eg on top, beside, next to, under, above, below, right, left, outside, inside)

This Week
As part of our new topic, Lights, Camera, Action! we have been learning all about the film, 'Toy Story.' We have talked about the characters, 'Buzz' and 'Woody', and how they become 'best friends.'  In our circle time discussions we have been talking about what makes a good friend and we have also written some super sentences about our friends and why they are special to us. 

In Maths, we have been practising recall of double facts to 5, 10 and 20
In Literacy we have been writing sentences to describe what they see, hear, touch etc...

Next Week 
Next week we will be continuing our Lights, Camera, Action topic and we will  be looking at the film, 'Despicable Me.' We will be describing the central characters, Gru and the Minions. We will also be talking about how the Minions like bananas and discussing our favourite fruit and recording the results in class bar chart.

Show & Tell - Favourite Toy

As part of our, 'Lights. Camera, Action', movies topic where we have been learning all about the film Toy Story, we brought in our favourite toys from home. We described our toy and told our friends why it is our favourite toy. 
We had lots of lovely toys including Disney characters, superheroes and even a 'Woody' from Toy Story!
