This Week
We have been continuing our Under the Sea topic and sharing the book Pirates Love Underpants! In maths we have been looking at odd and even numbers and using them to complete some simple adding sums. In Literacy we have been using adjectives to describe a 'pirate,' and also researching and learning some pirate facts. Literacy - Describing a 'Pirate' Maths - Comparing odd/even numbers and suing to complete addition sums Next Week Next week we will be beginning to focus upon the end of term and moving up to Year 1. I can't believe how quickly the year has gone, the children have all worked so hard and are definitely ready for the BIG move to Year 1. We will have two transition mornings next week, where the children will be moving up to Year 1 to spend some time in their new classroom and to meet their new Teacher. It's going to be a super exciting week!! Show & Tell NO SHOW & TELL But a BIG thank you for all your support this year, especially with show & tell, the children have loved bringing in things from home to share with the class and its been great fun to see all the exciting things brought in. We have been continuing our Under the Sea topic and sharing the book, The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch. We have been talking about our favourite foods and discussing healthy food choices for pack lunches. In maths we have been learning how to find the 'difference' between two numbers by counting on and comparing two sets of objects. We have also had a go at writing our answers in number sentences. Literacy - Sentence writing, what the Lighthouse Keeper has for his lunch. Maths - Finding the difference between pairs of numbers Next Week Next week we will be continuing our Under the Sea topic looking at the story. 'Pirates Love Underpants.' We will be having lots of fun making pirate related crafts and we will also be looking at maps and compasses North/South/East/West and giving directions to find hidden ''Treasure.' Literacy focus - Design and describe a pirate character Maths focus - positional language - Treasure maps Swimming Just a reminder that swimming is on Tuesday afternoon. Please ensure your child has the following... swim trunks or costume, a swim hat, a towel Please note NO EARRINGS, please remove earrings BEFORE coming to school on swim days.
