We had a great time sharing our items from home and talking about all the different colours, we also talked about our favourite colours too.

Wow! this half term has just flown by.  The children have all settled in extremely well and have been learning lots already! 
It was lovely to meet you at Parents Evening and share your children's fantastic progress and achievements so far. Don't forget to check your child's Tapestry pages for more photos and and information about all the lovely things they have been doing in school!
We hope you have a lovely half term break, fingers crossed the weather stays nice and sunny.
We look forward to welcoming you all back when school returns on Monday 29th October.

This Week
This week we have been learning all about Fire Fighters and fire safety.  We've talked about what firefighters wear to protect themselves and labelled a firefighter picture.  
In Maths, we have been practising shape recognition and looking at the properties of shape, such as how many sides and corners.
As part of this week's Show and Tell the children brought in something that was ORANGE! We had carrots, toys, orange juice and even fish! Don't forget to check your child's Tapestry page for photos of items brought in.


After Half Term
After Half Term our topic is Festivals and Celebrations and we will begin by learning all about Diwali.

Maths Focus - Number formation 0-10 (and above)
Literacy Focus - Name writing and letter formation

This Week
Unfortunately the Police dogs were unable to visit us this week as they were called away at the last minute! We are hopefully that we will be able to re-schedule the visit later on this term.
As part of this week's Show and Tell the children brought in some fantastic Police cars.  Thank you so much for your support at home with this session, the children really enjoyed sharing their police class and describing how they made their models or talked about the pictures that they drew.  Don't forget to check your child's Tapestry page for photos of items brought in!

Next week our topic is Firefighters.

What a fantastic Show & Tell this week. So many super models of Police cars, brilliant drawings and pictures.  The children really enjoyed sharing their work with the class.
Thank you for all your support at home. The Show & Tell sessions are a great opportunity for you to talk to your child and find out about all the super things they have been learning at school.

This Week
We had a super visit from Dan the Paramedic who talked to the children about what his job involved and how he helps people who are poorly.  He also showed us a special machine that measures your heart rate and he showed us how to put on a bandage.
As part of this week's Show and Tell the children recited their favourite Nursery rhymes. The children were super confident singing in front of the class, please see Tapesrty for videos!.


Next Week
Next week we're looking forward to a visit from a Police Officer and the Police Dogs. The children will have the chance to find out all about being a Police Officer and see the dogs in action!

Maths Focus - Using a counting stick to practise number recognition                                  and ordering to 10 and 20.
Literacy Focus - ID badges and wanted posters as part of our people                                   who help us topic.

Show & Tell
Wednesday 10th October - Please make a police car (this can be a model, picture or collage etc) Don't forget to name all items brought in - thank you!

Paramedic visit

The children listened really well and asked Dan lots of super questions such as,
'Do you drive the ambulance?'
'How do you help someone who has hurt themselves?'
