This Week
This week we started our new Weather topic and we have been learning all about the 'wind.' We have learnt a new word - Anemometer - and talked about how wind power is measured and the different strengths including hurricanes and tornadoes. We have also made our own pinwheel windmills by decoratiing and folding paper and attaching it to a straw. We have also explored sail boats in our water tray and feathers in our interest tray. We have also listened to the story, 'Mrs Mopple's Washing Line' and used the story as a basis for our sentence work in our literacy books, describing what happened to the washing on a very windy day! In Maths, we have been counting on in 2's, practising our 2x table and fast recall In Literacy we have been writing sentences about Mrs Mopple's Washing Line Next Week Next week we will be learning all about Pancake Day. We will be finding out how and why it is celebrated and we will be making (and eating!) pancakes on Shrove Tuesday! Yum!! Please could you let us know if your child has any food allergies or sensitivities prior to this activity. Thank you. We will also be listening to the story, Mr Wolf's Pancakes, and writing shopping lists for Mr Wolf and in maths we will be weighing and measuring ingredients for our pancake recipe. Maths Focus - weighing different quantities using non-standard measures Literacy Focus - Writing a shopping list for Mr Wolf's Pancakes DON'T FORGET to label all school uniform and any other items brought into school (eg gloves, hats, water bottles).
