Yesterday I realised that I had some rhubarb that needed cooking so I decided to look up some recipes that used rhubarb. I came across some really yummy recipes such a rhubarb and custard crumble cake and rhubarb and white chocolate cheesecake but I didn't have the ingredients for them. Instead I decided to make a rhubarb and pear crumble.
First, I weighed the rhubarb to check that I had enough. Next, I chopped the rhubarb up. I then peeled and cut up 2 pears. I put these into a pan to soften and cook with some butter, cinnamon and brown sugar. As this was slowly cooking, I made the crumble by weighing out flour, sugar, butter and hazelnuts. I gently rubbed the butter into the dry ingredients with my fingers to create a crumble. Once the fruit had cooked for 10 mins, I placed it into a dish and poured the crumble on top. The crumble cooked in the oven for 30 mins. To serve, got some dairy free ice cream and tucked in. It was SO yummy! There is some left for today too!! Have you done any cooking at home? What did you make? Happy cooking everyone!
