This term we have been looking at the story of the snail and the whale by Julia Donaldson, This week Year 2 have been exploring exclamations and how to use them in their writing through the adventure of the snail and the whale; we have been writing our own exclamations:
What a fiery volcano it is! what shimmering ice-bergs they are! What an amazing adventure we are having! What colourful corals they saw! Can you think of anymore exclamations that would go with the story? When we see the division sign we say "shared between" or "has how many?" Have a look at some of the ways we solve division calculations.
This week in Maths we have been exploring word problems. We have been learning to identify key aspects of the sentence to find the calculation to work out the answer.
* what numbers are important? * how many left = subtraction * how many altogether = addition. Some word problems have 2 steps to them, look at the word problems below and see if you can complete them, |
