On Friday we had a dragon dance to celebrate the end of our week learning all about the Chinese New Year... Please could all mums send in a photo of themselves for a little surprise we are making for mother's day.
We have a new role play area in the classroom. This half term we have set up a shoe shop. This fits in with our new topic ‘Traditional Tales’ and the story we are reading next week ‘The elves and the shoemaker.’
Do you have any unwanted items that you could donate to enhance the area? We could make good use of shoes - any size/ gender/ style, shoe boxes, tape measures and shoe shop leaflets/catalogues. As well as being great for language development we are also hoping to practise lots of maths and literacy in this area. We will be comparing shoes by size. Fitting shoes into different size boxes, talking about similarities and differences. We will be measuring our feet. We will be ‘paying’ for our shoes with money, answering the phone, writing down shopping lists, learning to tie laces, reading numbers for different shoe sizes, designing our own shoes.....
The first week back after half term we will be learning about Chinese new year. Red is a lucky colour for Chinese new year so please bring 'something red' for Show and Tell.
Have a great half term! ![]() Our topic this week to end the first half of the term is 'Pancake day'. We will be reading the story 'Mr Wolf's Pancakes' and making and tasting our own pancakes. Show and Tell on Wednesday is favourite foods. The children can bring a picture, photo or packaging of their favourite food or the food itself. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the parents evenings this week. The children have been very busy at home as well as at school finding out lots of dinosaur facts and creating some lovely arts and crafts. We made eggs from papier mache to put our dinosaurs in and we made fossils from salt dough. The standard of homework has been fantastic, well done Pandas!
