This Week in maths we are measuring length and height. We are using vocabulary like long, longer, longest, short, shorter, shortest, ruler, centimetres, width, length, height, tall, taller, tallest, wide, wider, widest, high, low, narrow, units.... Today we worked in groups. Each group had a different length measuring worm. We had to find out how long our worm was then take our ruler around the classroom and measure different objects. We recorded the objects on a large piece of paper with how many cm long they were and whether they were longer or shorter than our worm. We had a couple of problems to solve. Efren found an object that was longer than his ruler so he worked with a friend using two rulers to measure accurately. Naomi found and object that was the same length as her worm so she drew as new ‘same as’ section on her groups work.
