Year 2 have had an exciting week, heading out on their first Year 2 trip to Christchurch park. We feel incredibly lucky how dry the morning turned out and we were able to participate and enjoy some fantastic outdoor learning. We enjoyed using compasses putting our knowledge of North, South, East and West to use, looking for key landmarks and looking new ones. We have been learning about compasses in Geography and using the map of Christchurch park to identify landmarks, the children were surprised at how much bigger the pond was compared to on the map! We then used the opportunity to explore forest schooling, for Art we scavenged for interesting Autumnal objects to create pictures and nests for animals. we have continued our learning of Christchurch park in schoola and have completed arial view drawings of the park and in our sketch books continued drawing from a picture taken on the park. Please take a look at our work below. We would like to thank all the parent helpers who attended the trip and helped make it very successful.
