Over the last 2 weeks, we have been learning about nocturnal animals. We have been reading lots of non-fiction books and identifying their features such as contents page, index, glossary, headings, pictures and captions.
We feel really grown up as we are now officially real life authors!! We have made our own class non-fiction book all about owls! It stands proudly in our book corner.
In maths, we played a really fun game. It is helping us to develop our fast recall of number facts. We had to roll 3 dice on to a plate. We then had to race against our partner to see who could find the answer first by adding all of the numbers together.
We used our knowledge of number bonds and doubles to help. For example...
6 + 4 + 2 =
I know that 6+4 is 10 because that's a number bond. So I just have to add the 2. 10 + 2 = 12!
We also practised showing this on an empty number line.
See if you can play this game at home - I wonder who will be the quickest??
