We will be introducing the new Read, Write Inc phonics program next week.. So watch this space for ideas on how to support your child at home with their phonics.
Our topic this week will be The Ugly Duckling, looking at feelings and how we can be kind to our friends when they are feeling sad. In maths we will be looking at subtraction and beginning to use the correct language and starting to write these as number sentences. This week we have enjoyed the performance of Dick Whittington. We enjoyed the songs and acting. We then wrote a sentence about our favourite part of the play.
Next week we will be learning about Dick Whittington, This ties in with M&M Productions coming to perform the play on Monday. Remember to bring your signed letter and £3.50 and hand it in to an adult in Penguin class.
Penguin Class staff would like to say a massive welcome back after the Christmas holidays! We kicked off the new year with a topic about Little Red Hen. Yesterday we made bread and talked about how the yeast helped the dough to rise! In phonics we are working on writing sentences and looking at using capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. We are learning new sounds oo, ar and or - see if you can spot these in the environment and books at home. In maths we are looking at weight and using scales to weigh different objects, we are focusing on language heavier, lighter and balanced. |
