Our topic this term is all about animals! So far, the children have found out about animals on safari in Africa and animals in Australia.
Today we are going to look at animals from the Polar Regions.... we can't wait to find out about how they keep warm in all that snow!! Below is a copy of the homework tasks you can do with your child at home... Remember to bring any completed tasks in so we can celebrate. They will also be displayed in our topic zone! We have a new tradition in 1A. When the children come in to school, they begin work straight away practising addition and subtraction whilst Mrs Aristidou does the register. It gives the children 10 extra minutes of learning time and this regular practise is really improving their arithmetic skills!! Their brains just keep on growing!! In English this week, we have been reading the book Billy's Bucket. To help us really understand the story, we worked hard in pairs to read it. We had to help each other and look carefully in the text. Welcome back... The children have come back to school after the Christmas holidays with big smiles on their faces. They are ready to learn and extremely grown up and motivated! In our science lesson this week we became explorers. We travelled to the Arctic with a BIG backpack. We thought about the items we would need to stay warm, dry and safe. We learnt about different properties including waterproof, warm, hard wearing and flexible. |
