This term in art we have been using the book A River by Marc Martin. This book is full of the most wonderful illustrations following the path of a river through different scenes including the jungle, a city, a farm and out into the ocean.
This week we took the hills and valleys as our inspiration. Using watercolours we experimented mixing , blending and layering different colours to create hills, valleys and trees with different textures. We then put our work into practice and recreated the scene ourselves. See for yourself some of the fabulous results. It is no surprise that we are feeling rather tired this week because we have all been working so hard!
In English we have been writing a wonderful, descriptive story. Can you tell someone at home about 'Noun, who, which, where, sentences? Or maybe you can remember an 'Emotion , sentence.' In Maths we have been busy learning short division or 'the bus stop method' in Maths. It has been tricky but we are all very resilient. In science we have been learning about the 'Eat well plate'. We know it's not good to eat lots of chocolate cake or crisps everyday but what makes a balanced diet? Can you tell someone at home? Look at the following website to help: https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/eat-well/the-eatwell-guide/ We're looking forward to more learning next week. Year 3 teachers This half term we are learning about Hinduism in R.E. We have already begun learning about their belief in Karma and the cycle of rebirth.
This week 3C had a special visitor come and tell us more about their hindu beliefs. We got to learn about the importance of the sacred cow, the om symbol, places of worship and much more. Here are some photos of our afternoon. What can you remember about it? What facts about the hindu faith could you tell a grown up about? Year 3 Teachers. This week in English we have been learning about traditional tales and trying to spot themes and patterns in them. We have been looking this week at Red riding hood so decided to take a walk in our school forest. It was a wonderful learning experience and helped us to think of many adventurous words and phrases. Here are some photos of our walk and examples of our writing. Year 3 Teachers. Here is our magnificent writing:
