YEAR 3 BLOG

Year 3 weekly challenge - helping around your home.

31/3/2020

Week 2 challenge!

Well done to those of you who learned to tie your shoe laces last week. We are super proud of you.

This week we would like you to help with things around the house. You may wish to choose just one from the list below or you may like to do one each day.

- Make your bed
- Wash up/ help to load the dishwasher
- Hang/ fold 4 pieces of clothing
- Hoover your bedroom
- Dust 2 rooms in the house

These tasks are again great life skills and will help when you are grown-ups too!

We look forward to hearing how you get on.

Week 2

30/3/2020

Hello to you all!

We hope that you are keeping well and finding plenty to do whilst you are at home.

Keep your eyes peeled later on in the week to find out what our next weekly challenge is.

For now remember to keep looking back at the 'Activities page' on the website. Mrs Beaumont has recorded a story for you all to listen to. Here is the link:

Year 3 weekly challenge - Learn to tie your shoe laces.

Can you tie your shoe laces?

Our challenge to you this week is to learn to tie your shoe laces. I can hear you saying, "But my shoes are velcro!" For most of you that is true but I'm sure soon enough you will have laces on your school shoes,  football boots, trainers or even need a bow when wrapping a gift. This is a handy life skill!

There are many different ways to tie a shoe, so have a go at these different ways and see which one you find easiest. Or perhaps someone at home has an even better way to teach you.

We would love to hear how you get on each week with these challenges, so please send us your photos to the office email address and we shall try to share some on this blog.

Have fun!

Hello to you all!
We hope that you are all settling in to your new daily routines and are enjoying your learning packs. If you did not receive a pack due to being absent please look at the activities page on the school website for further information.

Please do keep checking back at our blog page and the activities page as we will be adding different content over the coming days and weeks.

Below are some handy links that you might like to look at over this coming week.

PE

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

We have been joining in with Joe Wicks PE sessions each day, whether in school or in our homes. We have aching muscles but are feeling great! Have you completed any of his daily PE sessions? Maybe you could send a photo to the office of you completing these at home.

Nature and wildlife

It is wonderful to hear the birds singing in our gardens. If you enjoy wildlife watching here are some links to watch animals on livecam! I have enjoyed watching the pandas and cheeky penguins so far!

Reading
Head over to the following link to hear David Walliams read his books. Each day at 11am he will release a new audio clip. I'm sure these will make us smile!

We will also be setting a Year 3 weekly challenge so keep your eyes peeled!

We do hope you are well and miss seeing you each day.
Stay safe and keep washing your hands.

World book day

13/3/2020

We loved reading to the Year 2 children for World book day.
Which book would you share with someone? Do you have a favourite author or story?

Year 3 D&T Research

13/3/2020

This term's Design and Technology topic is 'Food and Drink'. We are going to be exploring seasonal fruit and vegetables in the upcoming weeks and thinking about what makes a great smoothie.

In the lead up to our D&T sessions, there will be a 'Drink label hunt' sheet coming home this week for you to do some research on different drink labels. Look closely at the nutritional information and the traffic light colours. Is that drink a healthy choice?

We look forward to hearing all about your investigations and sharing your research.

Just a reminder for the Year 3 class assemblies coming up:
3C - today (13th March)
3DH - 20th March
3H - 27th March
