Thanks for signing up to parents evening, any issues please see Mrs Hoey.
If you haven't yet signed up for a parents evening slot the board is hanging up outside the classroom door. For your appointment please come through the KS1 playground gate and into the cloakroom. Next week we will be learning the new sounds m, d and g. We will be working on initial sounds and blending for reading. In Maths we will be looking at 2D shapes and naming the properties.
Our topic next week is vets and we will be talking about any pets the children have at home and the children's favourite animals. In Penguin class we get up to lots of fun, we learn through our play and like to take our learning everywhere! We use the play dough to write our names, we count when we build, we role play in the sandpit and write in the outdoor area just to name a few.On Monday the dental nurse came to visit Penguin class and told us how to look after our teeth. She also brought her friend Hector along and told us lots of foods that were good for our teeth.
There will be a sign up sheet available outside the Penguin Class closer to the dates planned on Tuesday 4th and Thursday 6th October.
This week we have begun our daily phonics sessions learning 3 new sounds a week. We will also be working hard on blending to aid reading skills for when your child brings a book home. When children are confidently blending your child will be given a reading book to bring home daily.
Next week we will be looking at people who help us and excitingly we have a visit from the local dentist. Penguin class P.E lesson will be on a Wednesday morning please ensure that your child has a named P.E kit in school as from next week they will be changing. First week in schoolWOW, what a first great week at school. All the children have settled in well and are learning the rules and routines of the classroom quickly. If you or your child have any questions, worries or concerns please don't hesitate to speak to myself or one of the other members of staff in the penguin class.
