We have had another lovely week in 1A. The children are working so hard and are enjoying their learning. They are showing they are ready to learn and inquisitive. Well done - I am very proud of them ALL! Here we are making Carrier Pigeons as part of our History lessons. We are learning about Changes Within Living Memory and we looked at how communication has changed over time.

In our science lesson this week, we have started to learn about our 5 senses. The first sense we looked at was smell. We had to smell 4 different mystery pots and use reasoning to guess what they were. We used our phonics knowledge to write down our guesses.
We had to put a tick if we liked the smell and a cross if we didn't. Luckily, we liked all of them!! Thank you to those of you who came to Meet the Teacher on Wednesday after school. It was lovely to see so many of you there. If you were unable to attend, please don't worry. Below is the PowerPoint I talked through. You all know, if you ever have any questions or need any support, I am always available to talk to before or after school. I am so looking forward to working with you all this year to make sure your child achieves their potential and beyond. ![]()
Welcome back parents and children. I hope you had a lovely summer and you are ready for Year 1. This week, the children have made a fantastic start to the year. They have been trying their absolute best with big smiles on their faces! I think we are going to have a very productive and successful year!! In our class, you will hear us say this ALOT.... TRY YOUR BEST AND YOUR BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH! The children enjoy saying this with such enthusiasm when they work. Here are some photographs of us trying our best this week. In Maths, we have been learning Part Part Whole. This is understanding that calculations have 'parts' that can make a 'whole' (the total). The children have been exploring this using practical resources and have even challenged themselves to write the number sentence to match. In P.E. we tried Yoga. This was very enjoyable and mostly relaxing...except when we got the giggles!! Have a lovely weekend, I can't wait for next week! |
