Every Wednesday the Penguin class are lucky enough to spend some time in the school library, the children can explore the vast selection of fiction and non-fiction books. Please encourage your children to share their library books with you at home. Please also ensure that your child's reading book is in their book bag every Wednesday so it can be changed for a new one.
Every Monday afternoon we visit the Secret Garden. Your children have all decided on a woodland school name - see if they can remember at home?!! Last week we collected sticks and leaves to create spikes for hedgehogs. This week we collected lots of materials to create patterns tying in with our maths topic, We looked at work by Andy Goldsworthy for inspiration. Next week our topic is Opticians, we will be looking at eye colour and completing a class pictogram to see which is the most common eye colour in the class.
In phonics our new sounds we will be looking at are ck (introducing the word digraph - when two letters make one sound), e and u. We continue to practice our blending and segmenting for reading and writing and the children are responding to this well. In maths we are looking at one more and 1 less, doing lots of counting forwards and backwards. |
