Today we were very lucky. We had a visit from Mr and Mrs Gudgin as part of our learning about the past in our History lessons.
They own a small village shop in Coddenham and were kind enough to bring us items they used to use and sell in their shop. We now know that shops have changed greatly over the last 50 or so years... Tesco has not always been there!!
We now know how they used to sell milk, tea, butter and sugar. We also looked at old irons, shoes and clothes.
It was very interesting - Thank you Mr and Mrs Gudgin!
Wow...What a lovely morning the children have had! Thank you for your support ...it was lovely to welcome so many of you in to our classroom! The children have produced some wonderful crafts and should be very proud of themselves!
Remember to come and buy them at the Christmas Fair on Friday 8th December after school.
Mr Aristidou was kind enough to make us some 3D snowmen with his special new printer... Scroll down to watch the video of them being made!
In the afternoons this week, we have been learning about 2D shapes. We have been practising their names and their properties (how many sides and how many corners).
To link with the book we are reading in English about Big Machines, we made our own big machines using 2D shapes! We hope you like them.
Mrs Aristidou couldn't believe the mess in the classroom when the children were finished ...!! It certainly showed that the children were working hard! Lucky for Mrs Aristidou, the children are superstars at tidying up!
What a big mess!!!!!
We love singing this song....it makes us feel happy!
In Maths this week we have been continuing to learn to add and subtract. When we add and subtract we use a number line and an empty number line to solve. Have a look at the picture below ... I wonder if you can have a practise at home? Remember to bring your work in to school and we will celebrate it!
We have also been using Numicon to understand the relationship between adding and taking away. We can create a fact family using 3 numbers!
In English this week we have been listening and reading to The Owl and The Pussycat. We thought about the poem carefully and then wrote our own story about the Owl and the Pussycat. We challenged ourselves to use these conjunctions to extend our sentences.
We are feeling so lucky in our class this week! A new Maths resource has arrived in our classroom. These are very special Maths boards. There are lots of questions on them which require us to use our Number skills. Have a look at the photos and see if you can have a go at home!
