![]() In our literacy lessons we have been looking at the legendary life of Jesse Owens and writing our letters to his wife Minnie detailing how Jesse won an amazing four World Records at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, much to the annoyance of a certain Adolf Hitler! Ask your children why? The children have been experimenting with their writing by adding some ambitious vocabulary and using fronted adverbials. Please enjoy looking at some of the superb examples of work below. In Art, we have enjoyed looking at the work of Henri Matisse and have been inspired by his work entitled 'The Dance'. Matisse studies the natural form of the body to develop and create his masterpiece. Matisse was born on 31st December 1869, and died in 1954. He was 84 years old. he was a draughtstman, print-maker and sculptor, but is best known as a painter. After he could no longer stand for extended periods of time, Matisse began creating collage works with scissors and paper. The children enjoyed exploring the shapes we can make with our bodies with the added addition of ribbons! We then used our pictures and sketching's and pictures to create pictures using collage in the style of Matisse. Please see the fabulous examples below.
