It's been an action-packed few days and the children have worked hard; I'm sure by now you will have seen their story pop-up books that they have made as part of their D.T. learning.
The children have worked hard this term and I hope they all take the chance to rest and enjoy the holidays, so that they are raring to go next term! They have all been given a 'talk task' for the holidays, which involves them thinking of a time they have been brave; it could be as simple as overcoming a fear - it doesn't have to be anything too momentous! this shouldn't take too long. I just wanted to also take this opportunity to thank you for all of your presents and good wishes; it is very much appreciated. Merry Christmas to you all and see you next year! The children were surprised with an Anglo-Saxon Day on Monday, where they spent the day immersed in all things Anglo-Saxon. We were very lucky that the children had the chance to meet a real Anglo-Saxon named Wolf (also known as Mr Wilson!) who brought in a multitude of artefacts to share with the children. In addition, the children wove sheep wool and dyed it using natural materials, they had a go at weaving and then made shields; these were used later in the day as you can see in the following photos. It was an exciting and informative day which the children all seemed to enjoy. A special thank you needs to go to Miss Markham who resourced many of the materials that the children used and who also had the unenviable task of cleaning the very smelly sheep wool of lots of dirt, twigs and poo!
Thank you so much to everyone that came to support during our 'crafternoon'. It was very busy, but a most productive afternoon. The children (and adults) produced some lovely crafts that we are looking forward to selling for profit on Friday after school at the Christmas Fayre. If you would like to purchase the crafts that your child made before Friday's fayre, you are more than welcome to do so; the decorated candle jars are £1.50, the personalised tree decorations are £1 and the foil tree decorations are 50p. We are also busy making other goodies to sell, which we will share with you in our next blog. |
