Hello year 5! I hope you've all been enjoying some of the home learning activities we set you! With Sam and Leo at home with me I have been kept very busy! We have been joining in with Joe Wicks' workouts in the morning to motivate and energise us for the day. Have you been joining in with these? I would love to see your photos, send them in to the office email address and I will try to share some here! Today we have been working on our writing. We watched a clip and used it to inspire our own stories. A challenge for you all! If you are able to access the internet, watch the clip for 'Catch it' on Literacy Shed (link below) and tell the story from the perspective of the meerkats - try to include some of the features we have been learning about, such as the different sentences types we have been practising in class! We went to the local woods for our daily walk this afternoon (observing the social distancing rules closely of course) and went on a mini beast hunt. We didn't find much but Leo recorded those that we did see, worms, woodlice, bees and butterflies. Have you spotted any of those in your gardens? We also made our own rainbows with a science experiment using skittles (yum!), sadly we can't put these ones in the window though! We added water to the skittles to dissolve the colouring and watch it diffuse through the water to create the rainbow! We used warm water, the time lapsed video is below, I wonder if using cold water would have altered our results, if any of you try this at home let me know! Finally we are finishing the day with some reading. Sam and Leo are working their way through the Alex Rider books, we would love to hear about the books you are reading at the moment! Take care everyone, see you all soon! Ms Mackay Literacy Shed clip - 'Catch it' https://www.literacyshed.com/catchit.html Comments are closed.
