Happy Halloween!
5C have had a great back start to school after half term. We have started our new Science topic today called 'Material World' and the children had fun doing a material survey around the school to spot different materials and their properties. I then set them the challenge to guess the lightest and heaviest material in the world - well done Pippa for guessing the heaviest material! This week we have also started our swimming sessions at Crown Pools. I was very impressed with how the children represented the school and behaved out of the school grounds. Just a reminder that if your child needs to wear goggles, you will need a letter from your doctors outlining that this is the case, which should be handed to the school office. Please also remember to bring £1 for a locker to keep your belongings safe! Here are this weeks spellings which I will be testing every Tuesday, due to Monday being our swimming day. Gold Group appreciate, bruise, competition, dictionary, government, lightning, parliament, persuade, reliable, understandable, enviable and miserable Silver Group appear, centre, decide, extreme, height, island, learn, suitable, enjoyable and reliable Miss Clarke What an exciting start to the Autumn term we have had! We have finished our first Science topic on the Solar System and had fun last week recreating the phases of the moon using oreo cookies! We then had to be ridiculous and used the ridiculous thinking key to think of ways of making a holiday resort on the moon possible!
It has been great to see the children so involved with our Black History topic this term, some great homework has been produced and yesterday we finalised our I have a dream display with speeches the children have created about something they would like to change in the world! I have attached a photo of it so you can see! Well done to everyone who has completed topic homework this side of half term. It has been great to try so many different varieties of bread and we have some fabulous temples in all different shapes and sizes! Thank you to those of you who attended parents evening this week. Enjoy half term and I look forward to seeing you all on the first Monday back. Remember your swimming kits and £1 for a locker as we will be off to Crown Pools! Miss Clarke |
