The Year 6 residential is almost over... just one morning of activity left and then the children return to Rushmere!
It has been a pleasure uploading these photos - virtually every photo represents an achievement; a child achieving something they didn't think they could do. Stepping outside of their comfort zone and challenging themselves. I am extremely proud of everything year 6 has done this year and seeing them work together, looking out for each other and having a really positive time together has been wonderful to see.
I know this trip is costly. I know that. But... the skills and experiences the children gain from this cannot be underestimated! Team building, confidence building, developing independence, being away from home - all of these things they will take away with them. They would have grown over the last week and have gained skills that will prepare them for the future. They will remember this residential for years to come and this will be something they will look back at fondly.
Thank you for supporting this trip and for stumping up the cash in order for your child to attend. I hope you feel it has been worthwhile.
Unfortunately, this will be the last post... I am leading training tomorrow so I will be unable to add anymore updates!
Every time we lead residential trips ... I ask just one thing of our parents. Tomorrow... when the coach rolls up and you crowd surf in order to give your child a cuddle, rescue the baggage and then escape... please can you thank our dedicated and committed staff members before you go. I say it every time... our staff are employed to work Monday to Friday 9 - 5pm ish... taking children on residential trips is going above and beyond. It is also a HUGE responsibility! They don't get any extra pay... they do it because they are passionate about giving Rushmere children the best. The staff know how grateful I am for everything they do for our children... if you could do the same I know it would mean a great deal.
Enjoy unpacking those suitcases! Remember it is likely you'll end up with Bob's shoe, Barbara's towel and a couple of spiders that don't belong to your child. Please bring back into school on Monday and we can return things back to their rightful owner. (Except the spiders!)
Thank you... and good night! Only one sleep until they are home : )
Storytelling before bedtime. Some bizarre stories apparently??!! No Cinderella or Little Mermaid then? : )
I am waiting for Mr Plowman to let me know who this is...
What the video doesn't show is actually how high that platform is! Well done! I know I couldn't do that!
The pinnacle of the week - collecting your money for the tuck shop! They have been asking about this moment since they got on the coach on Monday. : )
Was running out of Abba songs to use as titles to the blog posts... and then along came this photo! Yay! I think this may be staged!
