Please watch the video below about a plastic bag that causes all sorts of problems when he ends up in the sea. Afterwards, consider the following questions with your child: how did Stanley end up in the water? Where should we put things we no longer need? Why is plastic dangerous to sea creatures? We will be looking at pollution and the environment over the next couple of weeks. Thank you to everyone who suggested names for the ducks. I am pleased to announce that the duckling names have now been picked out of a hat and here they are:
Bob, Puddle, Goldie, Loulou, Donald, Poppy, Fluffy and Cutie Pie. When Miss Hutchings is able to photograph the ducklings individually(!) I will post each one with its name. We are going to learn about making a repeat pattern today. Watch the video lesson below and then see if you can make a pattern using 2 different types of objects or even 3! Don't forget to post a picture of your pattern on Dojo. This week would have been the Nursery Sports Day, unfortunately it had to be cancelled 😒. But this does not mean that you can not still take part in some way. Below there are some ideas for your child and family to do. These can be done at home in the garden, in the park or even in your home. You can choose from any sports posted or come up with your own. Have fun and keep moving! If you need any inspiration have a look at some of the staff members getting active. The Nursery ducklings are just over a week old now and they really have grown! Lots of the children have come up with names and these will be picked at random out of a hat on Thursday, when the ducklings next visit. So if you have not sent in a name via Dojo, you have until 3.00 p.m on Wednesday to do so.
Sunday is Father's day, a chance for you to say thank you to a special daddy, grandad or uncle. Why not make them a card, you can use the suggestions below or create your own. I would love to see your finished card.
Here is a new game you can play. Simply play the video and see if you can work out which sea creature is hiding in the picture. You may like to get your binoculars ready, the ones you made earlier in the term with Mrs Cook. Have fun! Which animals did you get right? I found it a little tricky, especially the crab! Can you remember how many legs a crab has? How old is the oldest turtle? What does a sharks skin feel like? Let me know on Dojo.
What could be better than ending the day with a lovely cool dip. The video below show the Nursery ducklings doing just that! Enjoy! This week we start our new book Commotion In The Ocean. Below is the video of the story. When you have watched it with your child there are some questions for your child to answer at the end. Enjoy! What creatures can you remember from the story? Which one was your favourite? Why do you like it? Can you draw a picture of your favourite sea creature from the book?
