Today there is a calming end to the term with some Cosmic Kids Yoga. A great way to get exercise and keep flexible, perhaps other members of the family can do it too! Have fun! This week we have set you an art challenge. Can you get out and collect some natural materials, this can be leaves, twigs, pine cones, anything really.
Don't forget to check with an adult that what you are picking up is OK. Here are some ideas to start you off. Don't forget to post a picture on Dojo. Can't wait to see them! As part of our caring for the environment focus please watch the video below. At the end of the story discuss what your child should do with their rubbish when they are out and about. You can spot litter whilst on a walk, though I would discourage picking it up without protective gloves on. Sharing
Developing the language for sharing, and the ideas of fair, share and halving, lays important foundations for children’s later work on dividing and fractions. This activity introduces your child to the concept. Gather a collection of up to 6 objects, there must always be an even number of things, so that it can be shared equally. Have 2 teddies, dolls or even humans to share the objects between. Count how many objects there are to start with. Then explain that each toy needs the same amount to make it fair. You may need to model this for your child. Then ask them to share out the objects, reminding them that each toy needs the same amount. Check at the end to make sure that each toy has the same. This is fun to do with food, children are very interested in making it fair when there is something yummy to eat at the end! |
