This week in Nursery we have been learning about Chinese New Year. We took part in a Dragon Dance on Monday, diving and dipping like the dragon. In the secret garden we learnt about the Chinese New Year story, how all the animals had to race against each other and that each animal represents a year. This year is year of the Rat. We learnt that the colour red is a very lucky colour in China, and we made red lucky money wallets. We looked at different objects from China and thought about what they may be used for. At the end of the week, we tried some Chinese food during snack time, the rice wasn’t as popular as the prawn crackers! What a busy week we have had. Next week we carry on with our Julia Donaldson topic. The focus book will be: A Squash and a Squeeze. We will be taking part in a lot of problem solving exercises to see how many animals we can fit into different houses!
