![]() During the week commencing 11th February, the children will get a visit from the Mini Monsters Roadshow. This is an exciting educational visit, involving learning about some of the little creatures we share our planet with. A letter will be coming out soon with more details on dates and a small charge to cover the visit. We can't wait to see who will come and see us! ![]() This week's focus has been based around the nursery rhyme, 'There was an old lady who swallowed a fly'. This has provided plenty of opportunity to broaden the children's vocabulary, looking at words such as after and before and work on some basic phonics and maths. In the secret garden the children had to look for the different animals which the old lady swallows. This involved the children working in groups and therefore worked on their communication skills. They also had to look for the letters which made up our word of the week, which was 'consumed'. Many of the children could identify the letters and make the appropriate phonetic sounds. The children are continuing to progress with their independence when getting ready for the secret garden which is great to see. The children are getting more confident counting to 10 and many can go beyond. Any practice you can do at home too will help. It's lovely to see the children's writing progress, with many being able to write their names and some numbers. Next weeks nursery rhyme is '5 Current Buns'. Watch this space to see what we do linked to this! The week commencing 7th January saw the start of our Nursery Rhymes topic, starting with Hickory Dickory Dock. The children learnt all about clocks and what the different parts of a clock are called. Then they took part in lots of time based activities.
This week we have been learning about spiders, for Incy Wincy Spider. We learnt lots of new words like arachnid, spiderlings and spinneret! We also found out that spiders can have up to 12 eyes!! Next week our Nursery Rhyme is There Was An Old Woman Who Swallowed A Fly! I hope that you have had a good break. It was lovely to see the children all coming back to Nursery all full of enthusiasm and ready to learn!
