This week our book was The Snail and The Whale. We thought about places we might like to go and had a visit from some snails who were very active, one even tried to escape! See the pictures below.
Why not look around outside, can you find any snails hiding? Another busy week with the Reception meeting on Tuesday and Sports Day on Thursday. We were so lucky with the weather on Thursday and a great time was had by all. The children had been training hard over the past weeks and, as I am sure you will agree, they were amazing on the day.
As part of the Clean Air Week, on Friday we discussed how the children had come to Nursery and made a pictogram; the children were great at analysing the results. We thought about ways to make the air we breath ‘cleaner’ by walking more. You can see some of the results below. Just a reminder that the Nursery Sports Day is on Thursday 20th June. The session drop off times are as usual (8.45 & 12.30), children come to Nursery in their PE kits.
The event starts at 10am (morning children) and 1.45pm (afternoon children). Entry is through the large gates at the side of the Nursery, these will be open 5 minutes before the start of the event. Please be prompt as the gates will close shortly after opening due to safety reasons. We look forward to seeing you there. Don't forget to cheer your child's team on! This week we are reading the story, 'The Rainbow Fish'. It is about a fish who has lots of sparkly scales but he does not share them so he has no friends. After some advice from a wise octopus the Rainbow fish shares his sparkly scales and it makes him feel really good about himself and all the fish want to be his friend. The children realised that this is like them sharing toys, if they share, they can have much more fun playing with their friends. In the secret garden we looked for different coloured fish and had a go at counting how many scales each had. The children then had a go at writing this number done on their sheets. We then made fish out of twigs and used leaves for the scales. As you can see from the pictures, the children did really well with this task. Please can the children have their PE kit on both Thursday and Friday of this week as it will depend on the weather when we practice for sports day. Thank you.
Welcome back after the half term break, hope you had a good one. This week we started of the term with a look at Summer. We went on a Summer walk and collected natural things that grow, sticking them to a sticky strip as we went along. This Thursday PE starts again, fingers crossed the weather will be nice enough to go outside and practise for our Sports Day, which is on Thursday 20th June.
The topic this half term is Under the Sea. |
