This week, in keeping with our 'People who help us' topic we had a visit from a dental nurse. The children learnt that they should brush their teeth twice a day with a pea-sized amount of toothpaste for two minutes, remembering to clean every tooth and their tongue. We learnt a song to help us remember this, “We clean our teeth for two minutes a day”, to the tune "Wheels on the bus”. The children were also told, not to rinse after brushing. They were told which snacks and drinks are healthy and which are unhealthy. We finished by reading a book about visiting the dentist and some children even got to dress up as a dentist and dental nurse!
With the sun continuing to shine, we have had lots of fun outside with the bikes, scooters, water and sand play. Inside we have been busy progressing with our mark making, numbers and shape work. The children are getting better with changing for PE, but if they can practise getting changed at home that would be great. We had our first visit to the secret garden which the children really enjoyed. This is such an amazing learning environment, we are very lucky! Wow the first week has gone by in a flash! The children started the week with a visit to the school library, as part of our People Who Help Us topic. We also took part in our first PE lesson, this went well and all the children tried really hard at getting themselves changed - keep up the good work & carry on encouraging your child to dress themselves at home. Unfortunately we could not visit the Secret Garden this week as the weather was too windy and there are a number of trees in this area. So hopefully we can visit next Friday. But we made the most of the windy weather and got the 'Wind' box out and had a great time watching the ribbons fly around outside. Welcome to all the children who have started in our Nursery this week and 'hello again' to those who were already attending. Last week started off with the last of the home visits, thank you to all the families who welcomed us into their homes. This is a very valuable experience for us and the children; it gives us a chance to see your child in a relaxed and familiar environment, and it gives them a chance to meet us again before they start in the setting. At the end of the week all the children had the opportunity to have their 'taster' session. These sessions went very well and the children had a great time exploring their new surroundings. I have included some photos of the last 2 days so you can see what they have been up to. We look forward to a great term ahead. If you have any concerns or questions just ask. |
