We began our new topic of Colourful Creatures this week by reading the story of Elmer the Elephant. Elmer even made an appearance in Reception! This story has generated lots of lovely work including block printing paper plate elephants in Art, labelling colours using different coloured pens in Literacy and identifying different expressions and feelings and what makes us feel this way in PSHE.
In Numeracy, we have continued to learn about subitising and the children have been identifying different arrays for the number 6.
The Read, Write,Inc sessions are working very well and the children have quickly adapted to changing classes. They also seem to be enjoying the Share at Home books. However, there are a few children that are not remembering to bring these or their RWI wallets into school. Please can you ensure that these are kept in book bags at all times. New books won't be issued unless the old book is returned. This is disappointing for the children, so we want to make sure that this is avoided if at all possible.
We have continued to receive lovely homework from the children, which is great. This is celebrated in class, which the children enjoy, so thank you for your support with this.
Today was the children's first ever disco and they all had a fantastic time; there are some super little movers in Reception! With D.J. Fykin at the decks, it was always going to be a hit! Although they are a little dark, you can see how much they enjoyed it from the following clips:
Congratulations to everyone who received a well-done this week or celebrated a birthday.
For next week's 'Show and Tell' we would like the children to bring in a creature from the sea (not literally; a picture or soft toy will suffice!!).
Have a lovely - and hopefully not too wet - weekend everyone.
