We have had such a busy week this week, which was made even more special by the Stay and Play session that was held on Wednesday. In maths the children have continued to subitise and have been using dice and teddies to represent the numbers thrown, in Literacy the children sequenced the story of The Rainbow Fish and added captions about how this character was feeling at certain points in the story, and in Art the children used celery to print scales onto the Rainbow Fish. The children have also participated in lots of other activities including making fruit kebabs to resemble the Rainbow Fish, which looked very juicy and tasty and as part of the Christianity unit in R.E., the children have been learning all about Jesus. This week, the children learnt about his birth and produced miniature mangers to represent this special occasion. Stay and Play was a great success and we were thrilled with the amount of support we received, so thank you to everyone that was able to attend; we hope you had a wonderful time too? We will repeat this later in the year, as it seemed to be enjoyed by everyone involved and it was lovely to spend some time meeting and chatting with you all. It was less soggy in the Secret Garden this week, which meant that the children had a longer time in there. They made rubbings of different trees and textures from around the garden, where different coloured crayons were also placed, to resemble the different coloured scales of The Rainbow Fish. In our celebration assembly this week, not only did we celebrate lots of 'well-dones' and birthdays, but we also sang 'One Little Speckled Frog', as it's not just in our Toolkit, but also because this week has been World Nursery Rhyme week. You should have received information on the School Newsletter about the Reception Singalong that will be taking place in the North Hall on Friday 13th December. Doors will open at 2.30pm and the singing should start at 2.45pm and last for half an hour. The children will then be taken back to class where you will meet them on the playground as normal. There will be a limit on seats per family, so details will follow shortly about this.
Next week for Show and Tell, as this week has been World Nursery Rhyme week, we would like the children to learn a nursery rhyme that they can share with the class. Wishing you all a lovely weekend! Comments are closed.
